My Duramax is a 2003 3500 4WD. I am visiting my daughter in North Carolina and Need to travel back to The Mississippi Gulf Coast Sunday. Today when I went to check the truck after sitting idel for 3 or 4 days, the truck cranked right up and the top row of DIC information that displays glow plug info, Service Engine, etc was working. The odometer area had what looked to be a block of hash marks, very dim. RPM, MPH, fuel level, Battery charge nor anything else worked. I checked the fuse under the hood and all was okay. I don't have my manuals with me.
I would appreciate all help or insight that anyone can provide. As you can tell I'm a newbe at posting, however if you can overlook that, I could sure use some help.

I've had 52 views so far, no replies, however here is an update to the saga of the DIC or cluster, if you prefer, not displaying information.
A member of The Diesel Page tried to assist me via email to no avail. I greately appreciately his efforts, as his knowledge is "his stock in trade" if you know what I mean. I received a lot of suggestions from other sources but none that helped me find and fix the problem.
I did'nt get to leave from North Carolina until Tuesday, after assuring myself that the truck was running fine. I used my laptop and Delorme GPS Mapping software to display speed. I knew what my fuel milage should be and it appeared that the ECM and TCM were working fine. Just for peace of mind, my son-in-law, Marine Corps Colonel style, (He's a Ford 550 Ext Cab Pickup man) demanded that I take 5 gallons of his diesel for the trip.
Cut to the chase... we made it to Biloxi MS fine. Yesterday after shopping at Sam's for a while, I pulled up to the Sam's tanks, put her in park, raised the steering and just as I was getting out, I looked down and the DIC was working. I couldn't belive my eyes. I had prayed for help but I believe I was given a miracle. Especially this time of year. That being said, I must tell you that I had raised and lowered that steering column, pounded on it, worked the ignition around with the key all to no avail. As soon as time permits I will take the covers off of the ignition area and see if there is a loose connector from the ignition to the DIC. There has to be some explanation or so my creator has led me to believe.
Don't stop your advice if you have any. I know that this area of the forum is not where this problem should be because a lot of knowledgable folks never read accessories, however it was the best fit, I thought at the time I had the problem.
Thanks to those of you who took time to read this tough, gut retching problem.
