1996 Z71 Specs

Hi all,

I am brand new to the forum and the whole diesel world. I just picked up a 1996 Chevy Z71 extended cab 4X4. It has the 6.5 turbo diesel in it.

Does anyone know the specs on this truck? I want to know what the towing capacity is, GCVW, etc. I have searched the web high and low and can't seem to find anything on it. I am going to use it to tow my camper which I know it'll do no problem, I just want to know what my limits are in case I go with a bigger camper. Right now I have a 24 foot travel trailer that is around 5000 lbs loaded and ready to go.

Tow ratings are either on the back edge of the drivers door or on the jamb. It's a sticker pasted on there. GVW - gross vehicle weight GCVW - gross combined vehicle weight. It will also list axel weight front and rear.

As for your other spec's, look in your glove box for a large label with RPO codes on it. They will spec engine, drive train, suspension, etc. Do a search on the page here for RPO codes to decipher them.
