This is my first pickup, all the rest have been Suburbans. I am learning that pickups are a whole different way of life.:D I know it takes time to fix your ride the way you want but, I really look forward to the journey

Thanks from all for the welcome back:D, even you, John:p
.

I have some new Husky mats and a 2nd seat cargo liner on order from John. I worked with him when I built my 98 2500 4x4 Burb:).

Well, he took my money and gave me great products for them.

I had a slow leak in one of the tires and when I took it in today they couldn't fix it as it was right at the edge of the tread. It is the wrong time of the year financially to change all the shoes to what I want so I just replaced two of the tires and took the good one and replaced the spare. Darn, am I ever going to get to the 285's I want to run???

Hi
To bad about the shop you took the tire too. They didn't want to fix it,just sell you tires,I would have fixed it,I have the official patch requierment book from Rema Tiptop, and there arn't to many places on a tire that arn't repairable. The book tells you maximum size holes in various areas of the tire and the size and type of patch to use.
Better luck next time

Thomas, I knew that was the case when I took it in. The Metro Atlanta area is real bad about that. Motorcycle tires are even worse. I had a brand new rear tire on the Gold Wing with 200 mi on it and it picked up a nail 3/4" off center. Not one dealer in the metro area would touch it.:( So I demounted it prepped it,put on a radial patch and rode it till it wore out 12K mi. later. If I had a bead breaker and a manual tire machine for the truck tire I would have repaited it. It is over and done with.

It is something about sales and liability also.

Lets all give a big hand to the litigious society we live in.

Thanks Jim. When I decided to actually get the truck I knew I would be subscribing to "The Diesel Page" so I good get the straight scoop on what is going on with my Truck.

Thanks for all you do for the GM Diesel community.

What did you do there MMCM???

ETC

Gee ETC, I rode the boats for all my sea time. I put in 30 yrs. Made MMCM in 16 yrs;), got out of the Nuc program at the 20 yr mark and went forward and became a COB on a 688 class Fast Attack:cool:. Went to my final shore tour as the CMC of an NAS:rolleyes:. Then back to sea as a COB and decommissioned the boat I went back to and decommissioned myself:p. My wife tells me I accumulated over 5 years living under water in my career:eek:. I bored enough holes in the ocean to lower the sea level at least 30 ft all over the world:eek:

No, I went back to school and got my Doctorate in Chiropractic and worked as a Chiropractor for 11 yrs. I sold my practice in 06 and have been a bum since.:D

OK, EDMC??? I retired in 92 and am not up on the current rating system. Are the NEC's still the same like a 3365 will be an EWS mechanical type??

NEC's are still the same. EDMC (Engineering Dept Master Chief) or the "Bull Nuc"

I started off as a 3355, went to nuc welding school 3351, ERS, EWS 3365, Cob 9779, CMC 9580. Funny, as I get more senior the Mickey Mouse BS doesn't bother me as much thinking about it. I tend to remember the good times. 20 hrs/day for six weeks and 20 cups of coffee/day. Wow, when I came off of that it was painful.

What do you think about the new uniforms Chief???

I like the new uniforms. I've had junior sailors say this about the new uniform: "It's the best thing the navy has done in 50 years." Very practical, does not show dirt, LOTS of pockets that are usable. They look very sharp even after a day of work.

The coat is amazing! It was $250, but has a Gortex outer cover, fleece liner, lots of pockets, ventilation zippers, etc etc all the things that a ski coat has. It is very warm on the waterfront even in the biting wind. They got rid of organizational jackets so that all sailors now have the same jacket.

In groton, they allow sailors to go to lunch in them off base during working hours. They say that we will be able to wear them around town soon. I hope they make the decision quickly, it is very convenient.

All in all, it ha been a great improvement in a sailors' seabag.

Good thing they did not use Machinery Gray and Seafoam Green as the camo colors ;)
