Sometimes when I start my truck ('03 k2500 D-Max, 113K miles) the instrument cluster does nothing. No lights, no needles move, gear indicator is black, nada. After some time, anywhere from a few seconds to upwards of a minute, it all jumps to life just like you'd expect it to when turning the key and acts normally: tests all the lights, settles down and gives accurate readings just like nothing was ever wrong.

Is there a sticky relay somewhere? What am I missing here?

Searching this site has shown that these clusters had some problems, but I've not seen anyone with the same symptoms.

Ideas?

I used to have a similar situation with my '93. It was the light switch assembly that controlled the running lights and dash lights. There would be a couple seconds of delay after turning the switch on before the lights would come on. The switch was overheating and oxidizing and making poor contact. The first time I cleaned the surfaces and it worked fine for a while, but then returned. I bought a new assembly after that and used relays to my tow vehicle to decrease the extra load on the switch.
