Its 25 cents a gallon cheaper than ULS.

Is it required by law or Manufactures?

My understanding is that you will plug up your DPF (diesel particulate filter) reducing its life expectancy. In Canada, BTW, you can't buy LSD at any regular gas stations and soon this will be the case in the USA. Eventually all diesel is targeted to be ULSD. The last to go this way will be agricultural and marine. The EPA web site has the schedule.

For Diesel vehicles manufactured before January 2007, it is not required, by anyone. You are lucky, having LSD available in your area. It won't hurt your truck, and just may be better for it.

07 classic is an LBZ, so LSD won't hurt it a bit. Wish I could buy some in my area of FL, only the crappy ULSD is available by me:mad:. Planning on getting some BIO here soon and starting to mix some of that in.

Ferminator, I have one place that sells LSD. $.25 per gallon cheaper'
MacDR50, it was built late 2006 I dont have a DPF.
I heard that the Sulfur helped to lubricate or protect parts, does anyone if that is true?

Sulfur doesn't provide any fuel system lubrication. The process of removing sulfur from the fuel reduces its lubricity. This is fact, but is easily offset by Diesel fuel additives that claim to improve lubricity with ULSD (or other fuel system lubrication methods).

Ok, sounds like LSD for me. Never thought I'd say that. Thanks for the info.

Are you sure they are selling LSD? As of Jan 07 it is illegal to sell LSD for hiway use. Some places are selling the remaining stock of LSD as off road diesel. Also, keep in mind LSD has not been produced since Jan 07 so if it is actually LSD it is now nearly three year old stock. Make sure you are not buying that as off road diesel because it is dyed red and carries some hefty fines if found in a street legal vehicle. I might add that I still see pumps bearing LSD decals but in fact they are pumping ULSD.

Thanks for the info, I will look into it closer. My father is the one that talked to someone who worked there (don't know if it was the owner or employee) and they said it was LSD. Maybe they meant ULSD and mispoke or don't know the difference. That last I checked they were $2.70 a gal and the next lowest was $2.92 a gal. It is being sold under the pretense as Highway Diesel, there are no signs around stating other wise and it is not in a farming area.

It is illegal to sell or use LSD in an 07 or newer truck. There is still some of the LSD as they call it being sold at some stations, but basically it is ULSD that didn't quite meet the 15PPM of sulphur criteria and they are just trying to unload it.

My understanding is that it is illegal to use in a 07.5 or newer. The 07 classic is okay.

I rode past the pumps today and there is bags over the handles of all the pumps. Florida required all gas stations to have plastic tanks by Jan 07, he hasn't had his replace and probably won't so he is most likly done selling any gas or fuel. The $2.70 sign was an old price. Mystery solved.

Actually, the cutoff was based on manufacturing date. Even if it was a 2007, if it was manufactured prior to 1/1/2007 it did not have to meet the 2007 pollution laws, and, for GM Diesels, did not require ULSD.

Around here, all the Diesel, even the red off road stuff, is ULSD (and all the gas has alcohol in it...) :(
