When it comes to using PTO accessories on a pickup, is there any risk of low lubrication or overheating from running a PTO off the transmission or the transfer case?
Just for the record, it would be from either an SM465, NV4500 or NP205.

A PTO is usually a Gear driven pump for Hydraulic Pump or a gear box for a manual drive winch (Think Driveshaft). While the actual drive side of the pump will share the gear oil with the transmission unless their is a leak or a bad seal there shouldnt be any problems with Low lubrication as long as you fill the trans back up to the recomended level. Overheating , every PTO is going to have its set design parameters, most hydraulic pumps will only spin one way etc, that part of your question is going to be largely dependent on what type of PTO device you attatch. And without knowing the make and model of PTO will be impossible to give you anything but a generic answer.
