Hard vacuum line for tranny ???

This got hung up and damaged when I pulled my engine. Can it be replaced with a soft line??? Tranny is a TH400.

THe OEM modulator hose/pipe were generally steel with short rubber connectors. The line must be something that will hold up to the vacuum supply. A collapsed line will restrict vacuum,causing late,harsh or no up shift.The Diesel vacuum modulator is specific to a diesel.
