So it is tax return time and I want to get a programmer. Nothing too outrageous, it'll be a year or 2 until I can upgrade the transmission. However, I would like to have a few more HP.

I saw this http://www.quadzillapower.com/products/index.cfm/p/Xzillaraider2

The specs say that it messes with the fuel rail pressure (assume raise?), and IIRC in years past that was considered bad mojo for the LB7.

I also have a bad FPR, do I need to get this fixed before I consider a power adder?

Anybody in the know please fill me in, as I obviously know dookie from shine-ola in this department.

I'm also considering the Predator hand held.

I've got a few weeks over the road (trucking) to contemplate before I purchase, and any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

The 2001 factory tuning has some oddities in it that the generic guys won't address. Particularly phantom limp mode, and also some have trouble with RPM and speed limits along with tire size. I haven't kept up lately, but many never fixed these issues. The last LB7 Predator I sold came back immediately in exchange for one of my custom programs as it wouldn't do speedo right if I recall.

When I do a 2001 I begin with all of the 2002 factory changes as my base tune. This takes care of it all in one.

I stay away from psi tuning especially on the LB7.

Kennedy's LB7 tune should come stock from the factory on every Duramax from 2001 - 2004.5, in my opinion.

Highly recommended...I towed over 200K miles with this tune. Better than stock in every measurement!
