Anyone know the size of the front axle nut on a K3500? Need to replace the
rotors. Looked in GM manual, can't find the size.

It's a unique self-locking nut, and you'll have to order it through a dealer or parts house by application. I don't know the thread size (I did, but don't now), but the hex is 36mm and torqued to 177 ft/lb for your application . GM (manual) requires replacement after removal. However, I have reused them in a pinch (unavailable or inconvenient at the time). I use Loc-Tite on them, if reused (not new).

Why are you removing the axle nut for a brake rotor replacement?

On the 3/4 & 1 tons, unfortunately (at least in terms of service ease) the rotor and hub mount as one unit.

The whole assembly (hub & rotor) has to be removed and the lug nut studs have to be removed before the rotor can be separated from the hub.

Fun!

Joe.

Ok, thanks

Guess I'll have to order a couple of nuts.

Hate those one time only setups.:(
