Anyone can try what you envision, and if you like it and want to specialize, you can add DOT#, MC#, and cargo insurance to become 100% compliant with state and federal law. Start small, see how it goes. Stay out of the scales until you are legal - that means stay light.

Hint: If you can keep your fuel bill at ~20% of your gross, you'll make money.
