2007 model year

Hey guys,

I'm new here and not sure where to post this but here's my question: What changes were made to the GMC and Chevy trucks during the '07 model year and how do you tell if you're looking at a '07 "Classic" or the new model?

I'm looking at buying a GMC or Chevy 1-ton to pull a 5th wheel camper and my price range falls around the '07 trucks but I'm confused about which ones I'm looking at. I think the newer model had the LMM engine but I'm not sure and do they both have the 6-speed transmission? Are the changes significant enough to warrant paying more?

2007 Classic body style has the LBZ engine. The 2007.5 new body style is the LMM. The cutoff is January of 2007 for manufacturing. The classic body is the one that resembles the trucks of the last few years (2000 - 2007) and the new body (2007.5 - 2011) is the more square and poised body design. They are different from about all angles of view. The new body has a fairly nice interior if that is a button for you. I am happy with the cloth and the classic interior. The transimissions are the same for either engine.

My personal preference is the LBZ engine, but I have no real merit of preference other than it is less regulated with pollution control devices.

I would say check the VIN for the engine model but the body style will be an obvious clue.

Thanks for the reply.:) I'm assuming that goes for Chevy and GMC. Are there any major differences between the two or am I getting basically the same vehicle except for cosmetics?

You're right on the money. The Chevy / GMC thing is a life-long debate. Same company, same vehicle as far as I am concerned.

As far as the engine / year model applications, it stands.
