I have a 94- 1/2 ton Silverado 6.5 Turbo. Have replaced pmd with ss diesel heat sync with #9 resistor. Was having stalls after 1yr. and 12k miles and replaced pmd again. Additionally, replaced oil pres. sensor, lift pump, waste gate vacuum censor switch. I am experiencing a heavy black smoke on heavy acceleration and when cruising on hiway there is a "flat spot" on acceleration, like a quiver/hesitation with a puff of black smoke. Not getting very good mileage. Could this be caused by a faulty sensor that measures fuel/air or something like that?
I have noticed that the lift pump is not always running when I shut the engine off. Is this normal and if not could it cause the smoke problem?
Any ideas on the smoke and rough running is appreciated.
Alan

The first half or 2/3 of this tech page (http://www.thedieselpage.com/members/tt99-9.htm) should help you eliminate some possible causes.
