Is this the crank position sensor? If so, leave it in the old engine and buy a new one. Or you can remove the timing cover and tap it out from the inside. Either way it will probably end up breaking when you try to remove it. My advice, buy a new one.

Most often the tab breaks. I think that they use some sort of anaerobic sealer on them. If the cover is off you could try using a piece of wood and a hammer/mallet. Strike the wood and not the sensor and cross your fingers.

That or replace it as mentioned.

Replace the sensor and dont fool around on an old used one.

Grease the little O Ring on the new sensor and also apply a light coating of grease on the shank of the sensor too.

This will allow easy removal later if the need should arise.

The anerobic sealer was used on the waterpump backplate where it meets the aluminum timing cover.

Use a gasket in this spot when replacing things in that area.

Use a little coating of silicone on all gasket surfaces.

And yes it did break,,,and I spun it...pried it,,,tugged on it...etc...no joy

Thanks for the help

Screw a lag screw into it and knock it out with a slide hammer.
