Has anyone done the 06 air box mod as shown on PPE's website?:

It would seem to allow better air flow, but I have to think GM put the 'fan blade' there for a reason - maybe to help direct any water?

Just wondering what the downsides might be and if it helps at all with turbo spooling.

Thanks.

Joe.

Some say it makes a big difference, but I don't see it. My LB7/LLY air box mods were primarily aimed at changing the bias to more frontal air versus hot underhood air.

I left mine intact. It does a fair job of spinning out some of the junk.

There is a lot of talk of faster spool up etc when enlarging the intakes. Yes a lot of this will apply in a max effort project, BUT look at how many guys bush down a 3.0" turbo to 2.8" to fit class rules. The prevailing opinion is that a 3.0 turbo bushed to 2.8 still outperforms a 2.8" turbo. The turbo still gets it's air.
