I’m looking for a replacement secondary fuel filter for a 1987 6.2 Diesel 1/2-ton Suburban 4X4. The part in question is the Stanadyne Model-80 Secondary Fuel Filter Assembly, which carried GM part number 10149548 (it has been discontinued). The dealer says it was used from 1987 to 1991. Below is a graphic of the item taken from a GM manual:

I don’t need the filter element (part number 3). I need everything else (parts 1-2 and parts 4-9) so I can reattach it to the back of the intake manifold and reinstall the three plugs and make the 6.2 I'm working on happy again. :D
Also, what is the exact function of: 7. Restriction Switch
I do realize that I can get a better replacement from Stanadyne, but this is more of a resto job.
Thanks!

1987 Suburban, the unit should be mounted to the firewall, not on the back of the intake manifold. They continued to mount the Model 80 on the firewall all the way until the final production of the square body styles in 1991 (for subs).
Are you trying to mount this system on the back of the intake manifold?
If so you need the appropriate intake manifold that has the mounting.

Also, what is the exact function of: 7. Restriction Switch
The Restriction Switch was used to measure the amount of suction on the fuel filter, which was also interpreted as a way to measure restriction of the fuel filter. When the switch was activated, the "Water in Fuel" lamp on the dash would illuminate, thus warning the driver that a problem existed with the fuel filter. Using the WIF lamp for both fuel filter restriction and water was a little confusing. Draining the fuel filter wouldn't solve a restriction (plugged) fuel filter problem.
The restriction switch components were eventually deleted from fuel filter assembly production because of leaks. Partway through its production life, GM issued a technical service bulletin encouraging its diesel technicians to remove the switch components from previously manufactured filter bases, then drill & tap the ~3/16" hole in the housing beneath where the switch components were mounted, and permanently plug the hole by inserting a screw & sealant. The switch itself was simply unplugged and discarded - no vehicle electrical harness modifications were necessary.

True about the intake and the mount locations. Thank you both for the input. The weird thing is, I see the attachment holes on the intake manifold, but not the firewall; I'll move the loom out of the way and look around for it again--I'm guessing I missed it. I know that the 6.2 in it now isn't the original motor, though. According to the documentation I have on the Suburban the 6.2 in it now was a rebuilt replacement put in some years ago by one of the previous owners.
But with respect to the fuel filtering, it doesn't matter at this point. I'm going to replace thepre-filter and secondary filters with Stanadyne FM100 units. So the problem is solved at this point. (Thanks, Jim!)
