17" wheels & tires

Has enyone here put newer set of 265/70/17 tires and wheels on a '90's GMC (1995 2500 4 x 4 6.5 ) I see an add for newer set of 4 factory rims & tires ( He has put on a set ao after market larger wheels & tires) for $1000. I priced out new silent armours @ $229 ea !!!

I have 275/70r17 on my '96 suburban.
I had to adjust the torsion bars to lift it about an inch to stop the tire rub.

I decided to just go and replace with set of Goodyear wrangler silent armour's LT245 /75/16E. I didn't really need new wheels, and the extra $ for 17" tires later on. I needed new ruber ASAP and the guy who had the used 17's still had them on his truck and had to order the new tires & rims.

Factory 20" wheels are optionally available on the new 3/4-ton trucks. I doubt many of these will turn up on eBay or elsewhere, but... Might look cool on the 90s trucks/Subs. :)
