Use high pressure shop air (as high as necessary), from the tube/nipple INTO the diff. Be sure to remove the fill plug, or you'll blow the wheel seals. DO NOT pressurize through the fill hole!! (you WILL blow the wheel seals)

When it's clean, be sure the vent tube is unobstructed, and doesn't have any kinks or dips/loops in it (it should be a continual downward from the end to the diff). Any part of the tube that can allow lube to accumulate can cause wheel seal leakage. The vent must be able to work freely, or the slight pressure developed from thermal expansion will force lube past the wheel seals.
