View Full Version : Governor Adjustment?

I was wondering how I could adjust the governor in my 6.2. I know that the man in Europe with the (now d-max) 6.2 diesel Massey Ferguson was hitting 5500RPM, so is this really feasible for a street truck? Or just race? How long could it last? Any internal issues.

Not a good idea to take the RPM above the rated range.
You can do it but the longevity is going to take a real dive.

For tractor pulls and such where the engine is considered expendable, anything goes.

A 6.2/6.5 will happily run all day long at governor speed.

The big issue is that the 6.2 is designed to produce its power and torque in the low to mid range.

Unless you are dumping huge amounts of fuel into the engine plus turbo charging the high RPM will not gain anything.
