Something of little interest except to me.
Was able to finally pull against my son on a trip of 450 miles. His truck an 05 Dodge 3/4 Ton, 4 door, Cummins w/common rail fuel sys @ 30,000 miles, mine 04 LLY @ 74,000 miles. His is bone stock except for exhaust, mine has a few add ons but I pull in Level 1 edge when towing.
He pulled a 9990 GVW fiver loaded heavy and 4 in the cab. I pulled a 38' enclosed gooseneck @ 15000GVW and weighing in real close to 15000# with 2 in cab.
I could pull away from him on the ramps, stops, or any other way. Mileage Dodge for round trip 10.8 mpg mileage for mine 11.6 MPG.
Now I know his past vague figures were a little, no, maybe a lot shaky!

Another friend was pulling four quads on a small trailer w/ one in the bed with a Dodge 1/2 ton, he wanted both diesels to slow down, he could not keep up! The half ton managed 9.5 MPG round trip!

I have a display loaded on a dedicated gooseneck that has been to a few NASCAR races. From Indiana to Talledega and back my Chevy averaged 13 mpg. I ran the 2000 Dodge to Darlington and averaged 11. Thought it was a fluke and ran the chevy to Dover and averaged 12 thru all the Pennsylvania mountains.

In all fairness the Dodge will run away from the Chevy and both are almost equal mpg running empty
