i was planing on making an intake out of parts i had laying arround the shop my ? is how important is it to have the cdr hose feeding off the intake piping? what i mean is can i run a seperate valve cover breather filter on the cdr? as the piping i want to use has no breather hose port on it.
thanks

It's VERY essential that you keep the cdr before the turbo intake. You want the engine to eat it's blow-by. Because of the really high compression ration there will always be a significant amount of blow by. For the CDR to do it's job you'll need to have it vent into the intake, just like it is now.

I think your best intake modication you can make will be the AFE intake system, this is the best combination of airflow and cooler air for the engine.

A homemade air intake system will perform much like the SS Diesel kit in that it actually hurts performance because it's only pulling in underhood heat, factor in the fact that there is no intercooler, it really hurts performance to take in hot air.
