Gauges don't work and it keeps popping fuses

I had my gauges go out the other day and thought that it was no more than a fuse. Well, I replaced the fuse and went to start my vehicle today and as soon as I turned the key to "run" the gauges jumped a little but the fuse was blown.

Unplug the fuel heater on top of the filter housing, it's powered through the instrument fuse and if it shorts it'll blow the fuse.

A previous owner patched the fog light relay into the gauge cluster fuse circuit. Luckily it was just a spade connector pushed into the fuse block and I took it out. The wire was run through the fender :rolleyes: and ended up grounding out. The gauges work fine now.
