I just baught two 875CCA and 1075 CA at 32 degrees batterys. Is that too much cranking amps for a stock alternator? I live in northern michigan and it gets very very cold.

The alternator doesn't care how much capacity the batteries have.

Big as you can get or fit.

P.S. IF the alternator fails in short time it's not because teh batteries are too big, it's likely because the old batteries were weak for some time and it had to work OT to keep up. This is why I try not to push my batteries too long and try to use a charger when they get weak or run down rather than "run charging" them.
