My truck didn't start. I changed out the key switch then I realized it was a mechanical connection to the real switch at the base of the stearing wheel. But the truck started. I drove it and within a half a mile the engine quit. It started right back up on its own and made it back half way and did it again and again before getting home. The next day I tried starting it and it started then quit and since then it hasn't started after many attempts.
I tried jumpering A and B on the DTC. All I get is a patterned flashing of the engine service light, on then off for 1 sec then two quick flashes and about 2 sec before the next cycle. The only thing I've found so far is a weak ground on the passenger side battery and fixed it.
Why don't I get trouble codes? and what do you think I should do next?

This sounds like classic PMD failure.

Those blinks of the SES light are the codes. They will be in sets of three. Write them down.

True. But he's getting a "12", which means the OBD is working, but no stored codes.

Guess I read it too fast. Didn't catch the all clear.
