If there's no Detroit Diesel dealer in your area you can call one of the branches of New England Detroit Diesel Allison (http://www.nedda.com/) and they should be able to hook you right up.

The 8V92Ts that were in our 10-ton trucks when I was in the army were 445HP and I want to say close to 2,000lb-ft torque. If a Detroit dealer can't or won't help, then I'd start talking to old municipal, forestry equipment, or bus mechanics because Detroits were pretty common in these. They might also be able to tell you who to talk to for more info. A guy I used to work with was a big Detroit guy and he said as a rule of thumb you can expect to pay $1000/hole to have one rebuilt.

I don't know much about the internals other than you MUST have the correct tools and know what you're doing when you set the injectors up, otherwise you stand a good chance of the engine running away because they go to WOT during starting. If they're not adjusted exactly right they can bind up and stay at WOT, and you don't have very long to find a way to shut it down before it tries to spread itself all over the shop. AFAIK all 2-stroke Detroits had an emergency shutoff that tripped a flap over the airbox and shut off airflow. These won't always be present or working on an older machine, and one of your first orders of business should be to make it operational if it isn't already. We have a few 8V92s and 92Ts at work, and IIRC the emergency shutdown is a solenoid that trips a lever, which in turn hits a switch that closes the airbox flaps. I'll see if I can remember to get some pics of the setup tomorrow.

The guy I mentioned before always had a 3lb hammer in his hand when first starting one up after a rebuild, so he could knock the fuel filter off to stop a runaway. I've also heard of people throwing rags or their shirt into the airbox and jamming up the scavenge blower. A CO2 fire extinguisher discharged right into the air filter should to the trick, too.
