I've been looking for this info for a while with little success.
I have a 97 K1500 excab sb 4x4 w/ the 6.5 td. I'm wondering if chevy would have put a heavier frame in the truck to compensate for the heavier engine?
Do I have the same frame as the light duty 3/4 ton?
I looked at a HD3/4 ton yesterday and it had the same frame dimensionally as mine(didn't have time to crawl under and measure for thickness).
Any ideas??

I'd bet the thickness of the steel used to make the C-channel on each frame rail is different. As I recall, the difference between frame rail steel thickness between a 1500 and a 2500 is 1/8" versus ~5/32". But, you're right about dimensions (L, W, H) and mounting locations.

It may be the same as the LD 2500. IIRC, the weigh difference between the two is only 400 lbs (6800 vs. 7200)
