Ok... A very tired subject and I've read just about all the threads related.

Here is my question. I have a 96 2500 Suburban. Want to upgrade rims. Saw a set of pre 2011 17's with 265x70r17 tires. Is this too much wheel/tire for the Suburban. I know going with 16's and 285's you will get fender well rubbing. I'm assuming the same would be true for this set up???

Thanks

Rubbing shouldn't be a problem under normal circumstances. The 285's are wider and taller, and normally only need a torsion bar adjustment, and sometimes a little air dam trim. Verify the wheel offset (backspace) is within 1/4", and it should be no problem.

Thanks!! The rims are OEM's prior to the 2011 change. I'll double check things.
I appreciate the help.

If they are prior to 2011, they should be OK. The 2011's may work as well, but I haven't looked into them.

From what I have read the 2011's have a totally different bolt pattern. so it sounds as though those will be out as options for older rigs.
