Asking a question for my Dad, who has a '04 Dodge 3500 with chip and a modified exhaust; I think that the muffler has been opened up or even removed. He hauls around a large truck camper, like one of the big Lance or Bigfoot models, and will sometimes pull a boat behind all that.

Is there much gain in adding an aftermarket airbox? Enough gain to justify spending about $260?

Thanks.

I don't know specifically about the 3rd generation Dodge's but on the 1st generation, there's definitely gain in terms of power and fuel economy.

Why not just make your own BHAF (Big Honking Air Filter)?

Maybe....just wondering if it was worth it first.

Thanks for the links

I think it was worth it in my case. I'm getting 26 mpg with my Cummins powered Suburban and that's with big tires and the truck being 4x4. I've heard that it's good for 2 mpg but as we all know, results can vary.
