I have a coolant leak on the passenger side of the block (1997 6.5 S model.) There is a plate toward the front, below the heads that appears to be a heater hose attachment. The leak is between the plate and the block. It has been leaking for a while. Several years ago I had the motor overhauled. This spring, when I was changing the glow plugs I attempted to tighten up the bolts. I noticed one of the bolt heads didn't match the rest so I don't know what the mech did there. There doesn't appear to be a gasket between the block and the plate so My questions are, 1)Should there be a gasket there and 2) Can I put a gasket there? The coolant leaks when the motor is cold but when it warms up the metal expands and the leak quits. Any suggestions?
