hey guys im new to chevy diesels. i just bought a 98 gmc 3500
with 168000 miles. i flew to philly and drove it to north carolina.
the transmission went out, slipping badly and no overdrive.
i have the truck on jack stands. im trying to get the transfer
case removed so i can drop the transmission. its a 4x4 automatic.
the torsion bar is in my way. i put the truck on jack stands, took
the bolts out of the bar on both sides, but it wont move back.
i also losened the tention bolts in torsion bar and it still wont
move. i need help badly. thanks alot

Make sure the bars are, in fact, unloaded. If there is any load on them, they won't move. Once unloaded, they will drive out toward the front, but may need a little BFH persuasion.

re installed transmission and have problem with shift linkage.
i didnt adjust anything after install of tranny. not sure why my
linkage is binding when shifting to mark. it moves just fine
when moving manually with my hand. does anyone have any picts
or idea why the cable would bind up instead of moving straight.

thanks
