View Full Version : air? hard too start
not really new here ,was here quit a few years ago. when i had installed a banks turbo on my jimmy. it was my daily driver and tow vehical, until i bought a pick up about 2 years ago. now its my 3 vehical which includes the wife car. so i,m not useing it much. last fall started smelling fuel and was getting hard to start,o rings on trottle were leaking. lifted pomp cover and replaced o rings everything was ok after that. its park all winter,so this spring its start ok. now its acting up again. read here about putting pressure in tank done that and found notting.replaced 3 hoses just the same! out off time will finish tommorow morning.:o
A possibility is a leak in the fuel return lines from the injectors.

well the return lines did leak when i put pressure, and they do seep when it runs but only since i put pressure. notice the smell off fuel last weekend when i used it.didn,t think the returned side could cause a problem?well i will repare this too begin and see what it does!
try and finish were i was getting at on my first thread. didn,t touch the return line yet will get to them later! after lifting pomp cover for the trottle shaft o rings, which was last october. i can.t remember if i install correctly the spring which goes ontop of the shaft that crosses pomp. the shaft thats comes in from under the intake which comes out with an allen key(i,m pretty sure its an allen key but maybe wrong).now what can happen if the spring is left under the shaft? maybe its ok but i just couldn,t remember. last fall after finish the job that october evening, came back in the house and decided too read the banks book on how too raise the pomp. and thats where i saw the spring sitting ontop of the shaft. jimmy was running ok job was done and tools pickup.it always stayed in my mine that it was maybe incorrect!!! white hair does that!!!!thats why i,m wondering if it could cause my problem? or what could happen if it were misplaced?
well after changing hoses it did get better, for a while. when it ran and didn,t smell fuel it was ok.i took a while for me to realize that when it smelled fuel thats when it was hard too start! my hard head had me thinking return line couldn,t be the problem.so i decide they had to be repaired anyway fuel is expensive and smells.the plugs on the 2 last cylinder were rotted when i touched them they broke,i replaced them about 2 weeks ago and it starts perfectly now.and no more smell!!!
