I just noticed that my engine hours reset itself sometime in the past few weeks or months. The best I can recall is that it had about 2200 hours on it and I looked at it today while scrolling through the trip odometer settings and it reset itself to 82 hours.
The truck hasn't been in the shop, the batteries haven't been replaced, the ECM has never been flashed, the truck is bone stock.
Any ideas why this happened? I do know that my average speed is over 1,000 mph based on the hours on the motor and the miles on the truck. Not to bad, huh?

I got my truck with 600 hours and 128K miles on the clock - about 97mph.

Now it has 135K miles and only 200 hours... Time flies.

Most.
Useless.
Guage.
Ever.

ditto my 2009. at about 550hrs and a dead battery situation, it reset when I hooked up a booster/charger to restart the truck.

sounds like voltage spikes are to blame for resetting the memory. why they don't protect it along with the mileage (which never seems to get reset) I'll never understand.

hours on a used truck are important to me, as much or more than miles!

Are you guys looking at the hour meter or the timer?

Definitely the hour meter here. It reset for no reason. I wasn't changing a battery like Mark, it just reset. I didn't notice it until is showed 80 hours so I don't know if it reset to zero or something else. It was a bit over 2,000 hours as I recall before the reset.
