What state are you located in? I would not take the chance of buying used heads unless you can see them in person. I believe people have had decent luck with the china cast clearwater cylinder head replacements they are kind of pricey though

Clearwater heads (imported) are about $600/pr. New castings with recycled parts. Price is delivered, with core return.

AMG/GEP heads (latest and greatest, not imported) are about $1,000/pr. New castings, new parts. No core return.

I have used the clearwater heads on a personal rig. Thye are nice looking and have a godd reputation.

The AMG/GEP heads are more $$$ for sure.

If your trying to save some $$$ the CCH heads are a good bang for the buck and they are ZERO HOUR iron.

The AMG heads IMHO would be a great giddyup for a project thats being built from the bottom up with a block thats been remachined.

An inframe can do fine with the CCH heads. Fritolay uses the CCH heads on all their chip truck overhauls. They buy them by the pallet load. The reports from one of their techs is that they have had no complaints.

My experience was good.

The AMG heads are cast by Navistar I am told and they are top shelf for sure.

The CCH heads do have some used parts, such as valves, springs and such.

The set I got looked like the exhaust valves were new and that the intakes may have been reworked.

Its likely a grab bag there, and depends on what they have in stock at the time.

The fit and finish on the CCH heads was very good.

The only thing I found was that a fresh set of glow plugs did not screw in as easily as the old ones ????? not sure what was up there.
I did not want to fight it so I used the original plugs as they were fine.

All other threads were perfect.

Good luck
