Hello,
I am a new subscriber to the diesel page and thought I would give this a shot. I am looking for a service manual for my 2005 duramax. Somthing that I can keep in the glove box for those extended trips. Possibly in a pdf file that I can download or something online? Any help would be much appriciated.

Thanks,
Ryan

The owner's manual can be found via PDF, the diesel supplement too. Just takes a little legwork.

Alldata.com supplies a subscription service tthat is make, model, and year specific. I signed up for a 5 year subscription for my '05 and use it often. It also includes TSB's and recalls and updates etc., but you do need internet access to get to it.

Your Chevy dealer can point you to the manual the service department uses, I believe.

That would depend on what you mean by "service manual". THE service manual is many volumes, and won't fit in glove box. It will barely fit on the truck seat. Helm (http://www.helminc.com) offers a CD version and printed version. Alldatadiy (http://www.alldatadiy.com) offers the same manual online (subscription).

If it's a service schedule you need, sign up at www.mygmlink.com. It is personalized per the VIN of the vehicle, and has a service and maintenance record. Other than that, you can create one from the info in the owner's manual (Helm sells OEM owner's manuals, too), or search this forum for any number of spreadsheets and schedules.
