6,5 not running after cranking

I have a 2000 CK3500 w/ 6.5, the engine cranks fine and the engine will run but only if the starter motor is engaged [I love my ring gear so obviously,,]
Does anyone have any ideas where I should begin my trouble shooting? If this were a gasoline engine I know exactly where to look first!

Then look in the same place. The ignition electrical is essentially the same on gassers and Diesels. Power to the ESS (engine stop solenoid) is managed the same as a gasser coil. Check IGN fuses, IGN relay, wiring, and the ignition switch. If it is firing with the key in "start", then the PCM is getting power (the pump won't allow fuel without it).

Could be a bad ignition switch.
