05 duramx intermediate plate

Can anyone show me a picture of what I am told is an intermediate plate on my d-max. Apparently it is cracked and is being replaced at this time. I am not sure what it does or hold. I think it is like a bell housing but it seems to house more than that.

It's the adapter plate that mounts to the rear of the engine block, allowing the transmission to mount to the engine. Most medium and heavy duty engines/transmissions use this method to allow use of different transmissions with one engine casting. It's also called a transmission adapter or bell housing adapter. Sorry, no pic at the moment.
