The shift lever on my 2000 Ford F250 went out. I managed to get it apart, had to remove the shift tube because on of the torx screws at the end of the tube had broken off.
Now that I have it apart, I can put it all back together, but I'm getting something screwed up in the process.
With the tube out of place but connected, it will shift through all the gears. When I reassemble it (making sure the little column switch is in place. and I get all the brackets and screws back in the shift only shifts from Park to Reverse. I can't get it to shift further. (I tried stepping on the brake,)
The battery is disconnected, to avoid firing the air bag.
Any ideas on how to get her back into operating shape?
