Hello All;

This AM truck started to stumble and loose power due to low/empty fuel. Limped to station and refilled ok.
BUT, Service Engine light came on and power is much lower. Also smell of diesel fuel when running. Does not seem to want to operate over 2000 RPM.

I did not have a chance to bleed out air but though if I ran it for awhile it would go away. No such luck!

Any ideas?

Thank you,

Wayne

Well first start with a new fuel filter, bleed air and try again...

It sounds like you have air in the system, these trucks do not like to run out of fuel...

purge all air out of the system and try again... If you have a code reader then get the codes for us, I am sure someone will be able to help...

keep us posted

At idle, open the bleeder on top of the fuel filter just enough to let the air out. If that doesn't correct it, change the filter and bleed it again.

Not sure why you would be smelling fuel, but it's worth looking into.

Hello All:

The old Subway fixed itself as usual, at least sometimes it does. Left sitting for a day and then ran fine. I will still bleed and replace filter in any case and try not to do this again.
Fuel guage seems to randomly change calibration?

Thanks to all,
Wayne
