Hello All;

Have a 97 3/4 T Subway and it seems to be running fine. Could use a bit better mileage, but 15-17 is OK for this heavy a truck.

Truck has over 175 K miles on orriginal injectors. Is there any reason to change them if everything seems to be running OK? If so, any particular model number is best?

Replaced glow plugs once and IP twice, and now electronics are on a cooler, so far so good.

Thanks for the info.

Regards,

Wayne

175K is pretty much out on the edge of the Life "envelope" of injectors.

I would pull a couple out of the LH side (easy to get to) and have then tested at a reliable diesel injection pump shop.

See what the POP pressure is and the spray pattern.

My bet is that the pressure is down a LOT and that the spray is off its game too.

If they show fairly good then run them.

My bet is that a rebuild will boost the mileage some and the overall running too.

Injectors are the most overlooked item as far as easy cold starts and mileage goes.

Have a look and let us know.

Hi Robyn,
What would be an acceptable POP pressure? I think the last time mine were checked they were in the 1800 psi range... I'm at 209K now....

thanks...
