safe coolant temp before damage?

lost the water pump on the 98 late last night while plowing and the temp gage hit 210 or so according to the driver before he got it back to the shop.

ambient temps were in the single digits....

what is safe without issues?

There has been more than a few times that I wished that I could get down to 210 while towing in the summer. Been there and done that on all three 6.5s. I cannot say I have seen any lasting effects. A Heath clutch is the summer answer. You know your fix already. Good luck.
