Popping noise from dash when a/c is turned on or off. Lasts about 10 seconds.
Is there a quick fix?
Thanks

What model and year is the truck? Is this a brand new noise, or is the truck "new to you"?

Can you describe the noise better? What type of "popping" noise? Like pop corn?:) Some trucks came with that option...

How many times does it "pop" in that 10 seconds.

Could it be the contracting/expanding of the ducts from cold/heat?

Quick fix? Hit with a hammer!

It's usually an indication of a stripped/stripping plastic gear in the servo (trying to reach the limiter stop, but can't). It can be caused by an obstruction of the blend or Recirc door (followed by a stripped gear). If you usually have it on Max A/C when you turn it off, it's probably the Recirc door. Try it with Max A/C off, and the rest of the knobs centered. After, rotating the knobs to their extremes (one at a time) should allow you to ID the suspect servo.

Yup, That's the ticket.

The servos run up against the end and the control system sees the extra amp draw and shuts the thing off.

If the system fails or the servos gears go away, POP POP POP POP

The recirc door is noted for this stuff.

Just run the thing over to recirc for the summer, then unplug the servo wire harness.

Come winter and you want to use outdoor air, just hook it up, run it back and unplug it.

The recirc servo requires that the HVAC box be removed to get to it.
