Hello,

I recently bought a 6.5L turbo diesel engine out of a 1998 GMC G3500 van with the rear mounted turbo. I had planned to install the engine in my 1996 GMC K3500 Dually. However, the rear mounted turbo has oil passages machined right into the top of the block. Does anyone make a block off plate for this?

If not, what would you diesel guys recommend I do? I was told the blocks were the same and I don't have enough cash to buy another engine.

Thanks!

The center mount turbo engine has 60 degree angle heads and the sidemount turbo engine has 90 degree heads, you can only reuse the short block, the heads and intake have to be moved over from your old engine.

This is the first I have heard of any machining of this type though, might sort itself out when you get the heads, intake off.
