I did many searches for this but came up empty.

Has anyone used a " Non-contact infra red laser targeted thermometer " in isolating misfiring cylinders by measuring the temperature of the exhaust port ?

one of these can be purchased for $35.00 . Yes reading out the code is better but this seems like a cool way to go also.

It works well, but you need a baseline with the engine running normally, under repeatable conditions. All the ports are not created equal, and they will normally be hotter closer to the outlet. It's very effective with headers, not as effective with cast manifolds.

Just crack each injection line one at a time. When you get to the one where there is no change in the idel you have found it. A little Simple Green and water to clean up afterwards.
