How do you unplug the engine wire harness from the firewall?

I am planning to change the engine, and would prefer to get a spare harness from the pick your part to reduce the time swapping the harness from engine to engine.

Good weather is here, time to get started.

On the 6.5, the wiring harness that feeds the engine (the ip and the sensors) has two large plugs right behind the fuel filters.

The harness is available but not cheap at around $200 (new)
Getting the harness in umder the intake and the IP is a bitch without removing the intake.

Good plan to get the new one for the swap. The plugs are fairly easy to deal with.

All the plugs on the end that feeds the IP and sensors are all different, you can't mix them up.

Robyn,

Thanks. After reading your post, I realized I forgot to mention the plug is on a 1984 C-20.

I have looked at the plug under the brake booster (the Big one). I have wiggled and tugged, but couldn't feel any movement. Am I missing something, or is a tool needed?

There should be a bolt right in the center on engine side. A 5/16" or 8mm.
