ses light on 0251 and 0370 codes help

hey everybody

hope everybody is having a good sunday. im having another problem
with my 98 6.5 diesel. it has 170,000 miles. has new everything
but injection pump. i could drive the truck 30 to 45 mins before
it would surge and stumble. it never cut off on me. so i ordered
a pmd cooler with new cable and installed on firewall. i changed
the pmd and now the truck starts and runs smooth until
i try and drive and it stumbles and ses light comes on.
codes are 0251 and 0370. can someone point me in right direction.

The 0251 is "pump cam system" and the 0370 is "timing high resolution"

The High res is in reference to the otpical sensor IIRC

This sounds like either one of two things, either the IP is taking the final plunge or there could be an electrical connection issue.

Get a small can of electrical connector cleaner (spray) and go through the plugs on the IP and unplug each one and squirt them and then plug back in.

Be careful when you lift the little lock tabs, not to break them off.

Also check the two large plugs at the rear of the intake manifold where the Injection pump harness comes out and plugs into the main chassis harness.

Unplug these and give them a squirt and plug back in.

If this does not produce any favorable results, then the IP is likely failing.

The connector on the top rear of the IP is the optical sensor connector.

If any of these have bad contact, the ECM will have a fit.
