Hey guys-

Its been years since I messed with the timing on one of these diesels, last time it was a 6.2 diesel but I need to advance the timing on my current 99 k2500 Suburban...

Can someone give me instructions on how to do this for the 99 K2500 6.5 TD?

Thanks

You can't change the injection timing by adjustment. That is controlled by the PCM. You can change the internal pump timing, called TDC offset. You need a scanner to do it right. In a nutshell, the scanner commands the PCM to "learn" the current value, then you adjust the pump position, then relearn the position. Consensus seems to be that somewhere around -1.95 is optimal.

Gotcha-

So on the newer pumps it sounds easier to have a shop do it... That was the nice thing on the old 6.2, as i remember I think I just knocked loos the bolts and turned the pump...

Thanks for the help, I will get a hold of a good diesel shop and have them do it...

Thanks
