Back in the 1990s a local University acquired a couple of these xmil 6.2L diesel pickups. I thought they were cool then and now. Thanks for posting.

Hea thanks guys, I love that truck. When people look at it, they say,"what year is it"? Then it comes, "oh it's got a 6.2". What they don't know is the banks and 700R4 make it a totally different truck. With 4.56 gears it'll drive over or through just about anything. Even dirty snow,LOL :D. Better fuel milage than my 2000 GMC Jimmy. I am IUOE, Local 137 Briarcliff Manor NY. Thanks again, Wayne.

Nothing like a shortie diesel 4wd flatbed for snowplowing. Simple, great visibility over your shoulders, tight turning radius.

Hea Mark, It's actually a standard wheelbase K30 based truck. The M1031 frame is 8in shorter behind the rear wheels than a standard long wheelbase Chevy to keep the weight centered over the axle so it does look shorter. The reason for this is the truck was manufactured as a chassis cab and the military mounted a 900 pound contact maintanance box on it that carried a PTO driven welder/generator air compressor, gas welding equipment and hand tools. The trucks purpose was to service military vehicles in the field. The GOV spec for these trucks was 1 1/4 ton- 6.2-TH400-NP205-4.56-rear Detroit locker-limited slip front dif. Probably more info than you wanted but I like talking about it and hear peoples reaction. Since it lost approx 1500+ pounds without the box on it, It rides like a buckboard:eek: and pushes snow like a dozer. I love it. Wayne.

I love this truck! My friend got me interested in 6.2L diesels ... I ended up buying a 6.5L, but still love the CUCV's! Want one bad! :cool:

Hea Henry, Thanks for the complement. If you want a CUCV, The M1031 is the one you should consider. It has the highest paload of all the CUCV's and it has the NP205 transfer case, a true Detroit locker and a limited slip front dif. Don't expect a comfy ride though. Some guys remove the stock springs an install softer ride lift kit springs. A great platform to start with if you wamt to build a truck. Most of it is already there.

Nice looking truck. I like the Mil 6.2s myself
