6.2 hard starting

I have a 6.2 which was recently overhauled. Starts hard and will barely idle. The exhaust is obviously showing an indication of the problem. My description of the exhaust would be a heavy light gray vapor. Easy to think there is a serious problem. The injector pump was recently OH. Anyone ever see this?

Has it been timed? You might want to try advancing it a little.

This sounds like seriously retarded timing.

Normally if the IP is set with the mark on its front flange aligned with the mark on the timing cover, it will be close.

Where is the IP set now???

If you run the engine until its warmed up, does the issue improve????
