im planning on removing my fan guard (not the fan shroud) to make serp belt changes easier if it should happen on the highway somewhere. I was told that the motor will run warmer with this guard removed?? Its hard to believe but does anyone know for sure? Thanks

How often are you changing belts? They should last 5 years, more or less. If you shred a belt while on the highway, the cover will usually remove itself (360 HP weedeater effect). At least with it there, you have a chance of catching it before it eats the hood insulation. Bad idea, methinks.

You make s good point I think ill keep it on. I'm thinking mine is still on its original belt so ill replace and check all pulleys one pf these days.

Caged fans are more efficient at moving air. Removing the cage will reduce its efficiency, but might only be a problem during extreme driving (towing in hot weather, towing up the steep grades, etc).
