hi, this truck is a project of mine that is taking a long time to complete( lots of bodywork). anyways the stange thing is if the truck sits for a month or two, it starts up real easy, but after it has been ran for awhile it takes alot more cranking. im stumped.

I have an 84 6.5. The 6.5 was a transplant cuz the 6.2 was wore. It is non-turbo and I have found that where I live if the glow plugs don't come on, it won't start. Even if it is warm, the glow plugs have to come on for it to start. Check and see if maybe there is something going on with them, controller, wiring, etc. I added a manual glow controller setup just in case the automatic one acts up. Good luck.

hi, its got manual control, new plugs . i heat them every time. it has a new filter and lift pump. could it be the fuel cap? if it sits for a month or two , it starts in one or two turns. if you run it a bit, then let it sit for an hour or overnight it takes one to two dozen turns to start.
