Shaun--Start by going to the "Advertisers" section of the Diesel Page.com There are at least three 'Stanadyne Service Centers' maintaining ads there. [Diesel Injection Service, Diesel Services Group,USDieselParts.com(Gomers)]. I've dealt with Gomer's , they're friendly with competitive prices, good advice. They have DB2 pumps cheaper than you mention. I think Jim Bigley screens/endorses advertisers. The other outfits should be worth contacting too....

I went with Diesel Injection Service. Great service and help after sale. It was 3 years ago so I don't remember how much $.

You cannot go wrong with one from Bill Heath. He treated me good on the one I bought from him.

Shaun,

I don't know if this is a good option for you, it may be worth you while to check it out if you haven't already committed to a new or rebuilt one.

Thanks for all ur replies i got some good contacts from the posts...i decided to go with britannic's suggestion of Tim Wagner from Accurate diesel Service prices were def reasonable and communication was excellent. Tim mentioned about regrounding the rotor and re-sleeving the head of the reman unit i bought from him..i hope this isn't a no no but i will trust Tim and Britannic on this one. thanks again

I'm running one of Tim Wagner's rebuilt DB2's, it's not a true DB2-4911, but he used my military hardened hyd. head and recalibrated it to match the 4911.

The other shops I tried, would only rebuild my pump to the same specs as it's tag, only Tim stepped up and offered to change it to where I wanted. I know there are a few shops who are prepared to do this, but wwww.accuratediesel.com was the only one who responded positively.

He changed the body of my pump to the stronger DB2-4911 style to prevent any issues with the increased 6.5LTD inj. pop pressure I'm using in my 6.2LTD.

It was a 3rd of the cost and have been totally reliable. His after sales service is incredible, he even sent me updated components to fix a drainback issue at n/c 6 months after I bought the pump.

Britannic, Im not sure the specs of the reman pump im gettin..Tim just told me it was a DB2-4911 that he has redone by regrounding the rotor and re-sleeving the head and in turn im sending him my worn out 4911 I put full trust in all opinions on this board as I have learned quite a bit of valuable information which has helped me make informed decisions on fixing trouble items i can't wait to proclaim my happiness with a new ip pump badly needed!

Check to make sure you're getting like for like - he converted my model to the later specs, but it didn't contain the ceramic pillow blocks or the upgraded plungers. Tim has a higher charge for rebuilding an actual 4911.

For reference, that is a true 4911 - note the wide shoulder between the flange and the pump body.
The spec DB 2(plungers) 8(cyl) 31(plunger dia)-4911 is also indicative.

Bet the bids go off-scale Sunday.
